I am tired of this whole thing. The Hindu paints the picture as though Russia is justified in doing what it did in Georgia, and that all oppression and attacks began with the Georgians, with support both covert or otherwise from Uncle Sam and his thirst for energy reserves. Almost all of the online media (100 pc US based) paint a picture as if Georgians are an extremely oppressed by their mighty neighbour, whose only purpose is to steam roll over the small nation to ensure its own ulterior motives, and keep the smaller nation at its rightful place.
Isnt there anything called objectivity. Someone who paints both sides of the situation with equal ink? Hindu gets to the point of being disgusting while toeing the LEFT line. The newspaper, was amongst the very few which criticized the speaker Somnath Chatterjee, for more than what the issue was worth when he went against the Left Parties’ diktaat recently.
The nuclear deal was highlighted ad nauseum from the Left perspective. I wouldnt mind if these opinions are restricted to the opinion page or the editorial page, but when such biases spill over to the front page. I clamour for another news paper! But sadly … if you have been accustomed to “The Hindu” for eighteen years now.(Assuming I first read the newspaper when I was in the First Standard - Which is not such a bad assumption given the fact, that in those days I used to get my kicks by drawing mustaches/beards to people framed in the photographs)
And then, I looked across for alternatives… Times of India… Hell… I am not even mentioning about the Bangalore TImes… This newspaper gives voice to Arundhati Roy - who feels India needs Azadi from Kashmir! Well… I think we need Azadi from the Writers’ Building as well…
Enough of this march past - left, left, left, left right left! I think I should shift to reading Debonair, Hustler or maybe even Playboy!

Do you follow Mr Bacchan’s blog? Some of his comments on media are quite on the spot.
And no, he isn’t talking about nuclear deals.
I think your search for an all-objective newspaper is going to be futile. You will have to get used to ignoring the chaff. TOI has a lot less of that compared to the other newspapers. Ofcourse, you gotta use the Bangalore Times or the Pune Times, as the case may be, as an ashtray.
Seriously, stick onto a few columnists you like. Mint and DNA have a few good ones that way.
Shivdeep>> Agree… Mint has a few good columnists… HT has good ones occasionally…
What I feel let down is by the partisan nature of some of the best names I used to revere…. (read Rajdeep Sardesai n co)

arundati roy’s comments were atrocious…
